Ten Doeschate said that India must first accept that they have not done well overseas. “We have talked so much about adaptability, it is easy to say that we need to adapt, it is easy to say, but really it is a point now where we need to understand the process, what is needed to make these adaptations,” said Ten Doeschate.“I don’t want to stand and defend the players and even be more critical, but the onus is on the players to have the mindset to accept that the fact that it’s really going wrong and look at the evidence in front of them,” said the coach.It is the first time since February 2019 that India have lost two consecutive bilateral T20I series. Back then, they lost 2-1 in New Zealand before suffering a 2-0 defeat at home to Australia.England also created history by beating India in a bilateral T20I series of two or more matches for the first time. India had won five of the previous six series between the two teams, while one had ended in a draw.Ten Doeschate said the players must now focus on succeeding in the challenging conditions overseas instead of relying on performances at home.“Psychologically and mentally the challenge for the group is to accept the fact that we are under foreign conditions and tell the players that there is a big prize two years later in Australia. We want to be a team that smashes 250 in India and looks fantastic with 80m six at Eden Gardens or you want to come to places where things are different, like Manchester and beyond.
