The famous director started filming the film as early as 2015 and has invested a lot of energy in the creation of “Ramayana” over the years. A 2025 report in The Times of India stated that Tiwari consulted Pandit and extensively researched the Vashishti Yoga Sutras to ensure that the film remained as true to the historical record as possible. It is revealed that the director went through sufficient research when writing the script to ensure that the film was shot accurately, and the dialogues in the film can also resonate emotionally with the audience.

Variety India had previously reported that the trailer of the film would be released on July 18; however, the team behind Ramayana confirmed that the trailer will be launched at a later date. They confirmed that the first trailer will be released at Comic-Con on July 24th. Their social media post was titled: “For thousands of years, the Ramayana has inspired generations with its timeless ideals of dharma, maryada, courage and compassion. Now, it begins a new journey. One of the greatest civilizational epics of Bharat is presented to the world on a scale never seen before in Indian cinema. “ A trailer has circulated online, giving fans a first-hand look at the film.
The current cast of Ramayana
The film has been in preparation for nearly 10 years, and the cast has changed many times. As of now, Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi have been confirmed to star in the film as Ram and Sita. Yash, who is currently gearing up for the release of his next starrer film Toxic, has joined the project as Ravana, while Ravi Dubey plays the role of Lakshmana in the film. Rakul Preet Singh will play Surpanakha and Kunal Kapoor will play Lord Indra. Finally, Sunny Deol has also joined the cast as Hanuman.
