A batsman from the Indian wicketkeeper KL Rahul missed the second ODI against England at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff after falling ill. The visitors made a change to their playing XI, with Ishan Kishan coming in as a replacement for Rahul.England captain Harry Brook won the toss and elected to bowl first, hoping to take advantage of the conditions. India, meanwhile, said they would have preferred to bowl as well, but were forced to switch because of Rahul’s absence. Confirming the reason for the toss, India’s captain Shubman Gill said: “We should have bowled earlier too. Doing well and very happy. We had a perfect game, I hope we will do it again today. We started well and it was great to see the fast bowlers doing well. Lots of good memories here. We have a change, KL is sick and Ishan is coming for him.”Rahul’s illness meant that Ishan Kishan returned to the ODI side, taking over the wicketkeeping duties.
