Punjabi singer Jasmine Sandlas, who is famous for her song “Jaye Sajana” starring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and “Dhurandhar” starrer recently opened up about her first menstrual experience. She revealed on the podcast that a lack of awareness about menstruation scared her as a young girl. The singer said she initially mistook her first period for a serious illness and believed she had cancer.

Speaking to Hauterrfly, Jasmine said menstruation was never discussed in her family until she hit puberty. Although her school later introduced the topic, she admits she still wasn’t prepared when she got her period for the first time.Recalling the incident, Jasmine said she was studying in Class 7 and living in New Jersey when it happened. “I thought I had cancer, I thought I was going to die, I was scared, I didn’t know how to tell my mom,” Jasmine said. She added that many girls experience similar fears because they are not educated about menstruation at the appropriate times. Recalling the experience, Jasmine said: “Periods are such a wonderful thing. But when you don’t know what’s going on with your body, it can be the most terrifying experience.”
