NEW DELHI: History will be on the line when Argentina take on Spain in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday. Argentina are aiming to become the first men’s team in 64 years to win back-to-back FIFA World Cup titles after lifting the trophy in 2022. Only two nations have achieved the feat before – Italy (1934 and 1938) and Brazil (1958 and 1962).Meanwhile, Spain are chasing their second World Cup title after winning in 2010. They are heading into the final on an incredible 37-game unbeaten run that stretches back to early 2024.Overall, Argentina have won six, drawn two and lost six matches against Spain in all competitions.
