Swara Bhasker claimed that her husband, political activist Fahad Ahmed, was detained by Mumbai police while participating in a protest at Chaityabhoomi in Dadar. According to the actor, several other demonstrators were also detained and taken to Mahim police station. Swara called the incident disturbing and described it as a “shameful state of affairs”.On Monday night, she shared a video on social media showing police escorting Fahd from the protest site. In the video, he can be heard questioning police, asking: “Why are you arresting me?” The video was reportedly recorded around 4.30pm.

Posting the video on her social media account, Swara wrote: “Mumbai Police detained @fahadizirarahmad and other protesters on 20th July 2026 at 4:30 pm in #chaityabhoomi, Mumbai. They are currently detained at Mahim police station. This is Indian democracy. Disgraceful state of affairs (sic). “Earlier in the day, she uploaded another video, reportedly sent by Fahd from inside a police car after being detained.Alongside the video, the actor wrote: “I received this video from @fahadizirarahmad on 20th July 2026 at 4:30 pm. He asked me to post the video. Mumbai Police is allegedly attacking peaceful protesters in #Chaityabhoomi, Mumbai. Those who are in solidarity, please arrive at Chaityabhoomi in large numbers peacefully (sic).”
Reported police actions during demonstrations
According to sources, several people who had gathered at Chaityabhoomi to support the Cockroach Jantar Party (CJP) protest were detained by the Mumbai Police. There were also reports that some demonstrators were injured during police operations, but officials have not confirmed the exact number of people detained or injured.
