Talapathy Vijay’s “Jana Nayagan” has opened for pre-sales ahead of its theatrical release on July 23 and has received an overwhelming response. The action film generated huge pre-release business across India.According to Sacnilk, the film’s pre-sale box office revenue on the first day of its premiere was approximately 149.4 million rupees. Pre-sales have resulted in more than 645,000 tickets sold at 8,876 performances nationwide.The Tamil 2D version emerged as the largest contributor, earning nearly Rs 146.9 crore from over 6.30 lakh tickets. The Telugu version earned around Rs 18.98 lakh, while the Hindi version contributed around Rs 4.77 lakh to the overall advance booking revenue.
Tamil Nadu leads, Chennai excels in occupancy
Among all states, Tamil Nadu had the strongest advance booking performance with ticket sales of around Rs 8.03 crore. Karnataka followed with a contribution of nearly Rs 433 crore, while Kerala contributed about Rs 136 crore. The film’s pre-sales in Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are also encouraging.At a regional level, Chennai has emerged as the largest market for films. The city alone has generated approximately Rs 266 crore in advance bookings, while the actual occupancy rate for 550 shows is an impressive 82 per cent.Other centers in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, including Trichy, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Kollon, are also witnessing healthy ticket sales ahead of the release.In the Telugu region, Hyderabad tops the advance booking chart with a collection of over Rs 13 lakh. Other donations came from Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Warangal, Kakinada and several other centres.
H. Vinoth responds to political discussion surrounding film
Director H. Vinoth clarified that “Jana Nayagan” does not intend to criticize any individual or political party.Talking about the film in an interview with India Today, he said, “There is direct political content in it, but it does not target or criticize anyone. It talks about unity and service to the people.”The filmmaker also explained the meaning behind the title. According to him, the story is rooted in democratic values, which is why the film’s first poster introduced the protagonist as a “torchbearer of democracy.”
