Content creator Apoorva Makhija opens up about one of the most difficult chapters of her life in Lock Up Season 2. Looking back on the fallout from the “Indian Stalker” controversy, she revealed that she struggled with suicidal thoughts and said fellow creator Sufi Motiwala was one of the people who supported her during that time.In an emotional conversation with Sophie on the reality show, Apurva shared that his friendship became her greatest source of strength as she dealt with the fallout of the controversy.After being reunited with Sophie, an emotional Apurva said, “I really missed you. Don’t do this again; I started crying. Every time someone asks me about you and says, ‘How did you and him become friends? He was so mean,’ I tell them… If I hadn’t had Sophie during the Insidious fiasco, I would have killed myself,” she said.Sophie quickly interrupted her: “Don’t say that.”Apurva went on to explain how important his presence was in helping her get through that phase of her life.“I can’t get through this. You’re the only one I’m with. I’m not dating anyone. Personally, in my life, as a friend,” she added.Sophie also looked back on their relationship, calling the time they spent together one of the happiest times of his life. He said their friendship gave him a sense of belonging in Mumbai.“I’ll tell you the truth, bro. That was one of my favorite years of my life, when we were friends. I finally felt like I had a social circle in Mumbai. I felt like I had someone I could go to anytime. I really miss you,” he said.The heartfelt conversation ended with both creators apologizing to each other for the misunderstanding that affected their friendship.“I’m sorry, too. I know those little things can hurt a lot. I’m sorry for not creating a safe space for you when you needed it most,” Apurva said.For those who are not familiar with the incident, Apoorva Makhija was embroiled in a controversy last year over India’s Got Latent, a YouTube comedy show hosted by influencer Samay Raina.
