Apart from his appearance in the film, Vivek Oberoi also made headlines for revealing that he chose not to accept any remuneration for his role in the film. The actor told Hindustan Times in an interview that he asked producer Namit Malhotra to donate his salary. “I told Namit that I don’t want a penny. I want to donate it to any cause that I believe in, which is children with cancer. I told him that I want to support you because I love what you are doing and I think it will make Indian cinema a sensation on the global stage,” Vivek said.The actor also spoke about the scale and vision behind the ambitious mythological epic, saying the team viewed the story as history rather than myth. “There is always a debate between whether Ramayana is mythological or historical. We believe it is historical and it was great to make it. I am happy and it was fun working with the entire crew of Namit, Nitesh, Yash and Rakul. I still have a few days of shooting,” he added.Besides Ranbir as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, the film also boasts a strong cast that includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshmana.
