Ben Affleck and ‘Jeopardy’ Winner Jamie Ding Win ‘WWTBAM’ Awards
In “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” the Oscar-winning actor is paired with Jamie Deen, who previously won 31 games on “Jeopardy!” From March 13, 2026, to April 24, 2026. On July 30, the two finally reached the millionth question (question 15). Despite the tension, they answered correctly and emerged victorious.Funds won from the show will be donated to Affleck’s nonprofit organization, which works on grantmaking, advocacy and developing community-building projects. The $500,000 question posed to the pair was: “What achievement happened two months after a New York Times article said it wouldn’t happen for ‘1 million to 10 million years’?”Din said the answer might be “the first airplane flight,” and Affleck couldn’t agree more and explained his reasoning. He said, “I only remember it because it was a time in my life where I spent time looking up examples of the media getting it wrong. Yeah, just randomly, subconsciously I vaguely remember The Times and the Wright brothers and the whole thing was 1905 or 3 or 4 or something like that.” They went with the 50:50 lifeline because neither side was sure. After some banter, they both agreed on the choice, with Affleck telling Din, “My friend, I’m here with you. Take us with you. I’m with you. If you feel this way, let’s do this.”Kimmel revealed that the answer was actually correct, leaving the two celebrating and happy. They prepared a $1 million question that read: “What are the annual Thanksgiving traditions that are all but the names of turkeys pardoned by the President of the United States?” Possible answers to the question include peanut butter and jelly, mashed potatoes and tots, macaroni and cheese, and spaghetti and meatballs. Ding and Affleck chose to use their “Ask the Host” lifeline, with Kimmel replying that he thought the answer was spaghetti and meatballs. Kimmel said, “I do something about this on the show. Every year,” further joking, “I can see me putting a big bowl in Donald Trump’s hand and him wolfing down spaghetti and meatballs. That one doesn’t sound like it’s my cup of tea.”
Jamie Deen compares his friendship to Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s
As a precaution, they also opted for a lifeline of calling a friend, prompting Ding to tell the Gone Girl actor that the person he was calling was one of his closest friends, just like Matt Damon was to him. Instead, Damon and Affleck have been close friends since they were teenagers.Din commented, “Jimmy, you might like this friend of mine,” Din said. “I mean, Harvard-educated dads, we’re two years apart, but we’ve been through a lot of trials and tribulations together. Just like Ben and Matt.” When the man didn’t answer the phone, the actor joked that his friend was just like Matt. They accepted Kimmel’s answer and won the massive $1 million prize.Fans can tune into the series every Wednesday on ABC. They are also streaming on Prime Video.
