choreographer Ahmed Khan In 2004, he directed his first film “The Lakers: Forbidden Line”. sonny del, Sunil Shetty and John Abraham. But not many people know that this wasn’t supposed to be his first film. His real first project was by Shah Rukh KhanSRK also participated. Ahmed has now spoken about the story of that film and why it was never made.
Ahmed Khan tells the story of ‘Sabr’
Speaking to News18, he said, “At that time, before Lake, I had written a film called Sabur. The film was supposed to star him in a double role. AR Rahman also agreed to compose the music. It is a story of a grandfather and his grandson – when he was born, his grandfather was no longer around, but he knew everything about him because he had heard his story while he was in his mother’s womb. It is a touching story.”
Ahmed Khan recalls Shah Rukh preparing to appoint two directors
Shah Rukh was scheduled to play a double role in the film. That year, the superstar also planned to launch two choreographers as directors, Farah Khan And Ahmed himself. “When I told Shah Rukh about it, he said he wanted to do the film. I’m eager to do it. That year Shah Rukh appointed two choreographers as directors of his productions – Farah and me. At the time, it was called Dreamz Unlimited,” he recalls.
Ahmed Khan on why movies keep getting delayed
The story resonated with him immediately. “Shah Rukh heard my script and he liked it. It is a serious film. Rehman has already started composing his music. It was supposed to star two other heroes,” Ahmed shared. So what happened next? “His commitment was to Farah first. As per my understanding, my film would be released only after Farah’s film. I couldn’t jump in the queue. But her film kept getting postponed. It was delayed by about two years as Shah Rukh had other commitments to fulfill and it took a lot of time to make a film. I started to get restless. I’m ready to start my movie. Finally, the main Hoon Na comes on stage. They can easily take a year or a year and a half to complete. There was no way I could wait that long,” Ahmed said.
Ahmed Khan’s words about Shah Rukh touched his heart
Although Shah Rukh asked Ahmed to hold on for a little longer, he couldn’t and he went ahead and started working for Lake. “I remember talking to Shah Rukh and he told me, ‘Don’t go anywhere. Your first film must be with me.’ He spoke to me like a brother and his words touched my heart,” said the director of “Baaghi 2” and “Welcome to the Jungle.” However, the situation did not affect their connection, but Ahmed chose not to revisit that story. “I asked him if I could do a second movie with him and he told me, ‘Tu hi ja raha hai.'” That’s when I drifted away and joined the Lakers. But that never affected our equation. That movie was never made. This is just for Shah Rukh. But I know it’s never too late,” he commented.
