Liz Meriwether has been tapped to write the script for Britney Spears’ upcoming biopic. The acclaimed screenwriter and television creator will team up with director Jon M. Chu and producer Marc Platt are involved in the feature film adaptation of the Grammy-winning singer’s best-selling memoir.According to Variety , the news was announced as part of Universal’s continued development of the project. In August 2024, the studio acquired the rights to Spears’ memoir, and Chu and Platt will be responsible for bringing the film into production. Spears herself shared news of the “secret project” on social media, expressing confidence in the producers working on her story and encouraging fans to stay tuned for more announcements about the film.

Meriwether’s script will be adapted from The Woman Inside Me, which will be released in October 2023. The memoir was a huge commercial success, selling 1.1 million copies in its first week of release.
