BMW Group India watches record H1 sales, EV sales jump 78%

BMW Group India has reported its best-ever sales performance in the first half, delivering 9,075 vehicles between January and June 2026. The luxury car maker recorded 17 percent year-on-year growth during the period, while second-quarter sales also rose 17 percent to 4,507 units.A major contributor to this success was the company’s electric vehicle EV portfolio. BMW Group India sold 2,359 EVs in the first six months of 2026, registering a growth of 78% year-on-year. The company said EVs accounted for 26 percent of total vehicle sales during the period, meaning that one out of every four BMW Group vehicles delivered in India was electric. BMW also claimed to have the leading EV brand in the country with a 69 percent market share.BMW Group India also plans to introduce 14 more products in its range by the end of 2026.Demand for the company’s long-wheelbase models continues to grow, with sales up 24% year-on-year to 4,428 units. These models contributed 52 percent of the company’s total sales in the first half of the year. Meanwhile, BMW and MINI SUVs recorded a 35% increase in sales to 5,926 units, accounting for 65% of total volumes.MINI also delivered a strong performance, recording sales of 504 vehicles in H1 2026, up 70 percent year-on-year.
