Diljit Dosanjh‘s film ‘Satluj’ was removed from OTT platforms soon after its digital release. Since being taken down, the film has been shown in several locations across the country. According to latest reports, a screening of Satluj was recently held in Jammu for the local community. A few days ago, the Management Committee of the Delhi Sikh Gurugram also announced that it would hold screenings and seminars to support the film.
Amid controversy, ‘Satluj’ screened in Jammu
Jammu District Gurdwara Parpanhak Committee (DGPC) held a screening event on Friday, July 10, which was attended by people from various districts, ANI reported.Finance Minister Sardar Jagpal Singh issued a statement regarding the screening and mentioned that more such programs will be organized in gurdwaras in the coming days. “Look at the gathering here; people from all faiths – Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims and others – are present. The film started at 8:00 pm and it is now close to 10:20 pm. It is puzzling why the government or those involved want to hide the truth. The film is currently being screened in this gurdwara and will continue to be shown in various other gurdwaras until the 16th,” his statement read.The move comes after the film was removed from OTT platforms within 48 hours of its release in India. DGPC joins DSGMC, Akali DharSGPC and Waris Punjab De and many other organizations organized public screenings of the film across the country.
Center says ‘Satluj’ was released without proper certification
After public outcry over the film’s removal from OTT, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued a statement addressing the matter. The statement claimed that the film was released without any certification, ANI reported.“‘Satluj’ did not receive the required certification for theatrical release. Instead of adhering to the certification process, the makers changed the title of the film and released it on an OTT platform on Friday,” the statement said.
