YouTuber Saurav Joshi has retracted his earlier claim that E20 fuel was the cause of his Mercedes-Benz SUV’s fuel economy, saying the problem was caused by an engine problem. The clarification comes days after Mercedes-Benz India said that all BS VI petrol models are compatible with E20 fuel.In a recent press release on X, the manufacturer said the vehicle was inspected at an authorized Mercedes-Benz facility, where experts identified an engine problem affecting the SUV’s handling. He also apologized for the confusion he said earlier, and said that he did not want to spread wrong news or mislead people. The controversy started when a vlogger claimed in one of his videos that his Mercedes-Benz GLC had dropped from 17 kmpl to 5 kmpl within two days. He also said that the reduction of ethanol fuel combined with ethanol, saying that the entire tank, which previously provided about 800 km of driving distance, was about 490 km long.Following the viral video, Mercedes-Benz India issued a statement regarding the allegations. The company reiterated that all its BS VI fuel vehicles are certified to run on E20 fuel and meet the requirements.“At Mercedes-Benz, customer safety, vehicle reliability and service are very important to us. All Mercedes-Benz gasoline BS VI vehicles are fully compatible with E20 fuel and are certified according to the relevant authorities. We are happy to assist customers with any technical questions. Mercedes-Benz remains committed to sustainable travel,” the company said in a statement.
