The Medical Consultative Committee (MCC) is expected to release the NEET UG counseling schedule 2026 on the official website neet.nta.ac.in soon. These top medical candidates want to become MBBS or BDS doctors in government hospitals or universities, so they need a formal admission letter. Apart from AIQ which holds 15% of the total seats, counseling will be conducted at government medical and dental colleges, recognized universities, central universities, ESIC Medical College, AFMC, etc. National authorities will individually occupy the remaining 85% of the national advisory quota seats.Candidates are expected to register through the website, select and finalize their preference for colleges and courses and follow the seat allotment round, which will depend on the candidate’s rank category, availability of seats and booking norms.

Candidates allocated quotas must report to their respective institutions within the specified period to confirm their admission.Applicants must register online, select their preferred university and course, and then lock in their choice. Seat allotment will be based on NEET UG 2026 ranking, category, seat availability and reservation policy. Candidates who have been admitted must go to their institution in person to confirm their admission within the time specified in the admissions regulations.

It is understood that the MCC still needs to publish an appropriate consultation calendar, but the MCC may publish a full timetable soon. Candidates are advised to frequently check the official website for information regarding registration, selection filling, seat allocation and reporting dates.
Seat Matrix for NEET UG 2026
The National Medical Council (NMC) has shared the MBBS seat matrix ahead of the medical counseling process for the academic year 2026-27. As per the latest data, there are a total of 136,939 MBBS seats in the country, of which 63,296 are in government colleges and 73,643 in private colleges.There are approximately 1,022 more places than last year, providing more space for medical students to apply to various medical schools. The seat matrix also does not include Institutions of National Importance (INI) such as AIIMS, JIPMER and PGIMER, which conduct admissions through their own separate methods.
NEET UG Counseling Process
The MCC counseling process is primarily round-based seat allocation, with sporadic vacancy rounds also being conducted if seats remain vacant.MCC consultation basically includes the following:
- Online registration and payment of consultation fees
- Fill in the options and lock in your preferred institutions and courses
- Allotment of seats to candidates based on NEET rank, reservation policy and availability
- Perform document verification and admission
- If the candidate is eligible, participate in subsequent rounds
Candidates should be ready with all documents required for verification such as NEET UG 2026 scorecard, admit card, class 10 and 12 certificates, identity proof, category certificate (if applicable), passport size photograph, etc.
Who can participate?
Those who have passed the NEET UG exam 2026 and meet the eligibility criteria determined by MCC and the institutions participating in the program can join the coaching process. Admission of the candidates will be based solely on merit, reservation rules, availability of seats and preference stated by the candidates at the time of selection of options.
