Producer Aakash Baskaran spoke about the film’s theatrical release in a chat with Chitra Lakshmanan on YouTube, admitting that there were several factors that affected its commercial performance. “The controversy surrounding Parasakthi, its clash with other films, censorship issues and huge expectations all played a major role in the film’s box office results,” he said. He further added, “We produced ‘Parasakthi’ and ‘Idli Kadai’ on a profit-sharing model. Parasakthi was a big-budget film but its box office collections did not reach the expected level compared to the investment. ” His comments shed more light on why the film failed to meet financial expectations despite the hype.

Akash Bhaskaran also explained the difference between the two films from a business perspective. “That’s why we were unable to pay the full agreed profit share of ‘Parasakthi’. But ‘Idli Kadai’ was made on a much smaller budget but it proved to be a profitable investment for us. Hence, we were able to fulfill our promise and pay Dhanush our full promised profit share,” he said. His statement raised eyebrows as it directly compared the financial results of the two projects, revealing how the budget and box office performance impacted the final returns.
