“I was like, ‘I’m going to text him, I’m going to take him to dinner,'” Holland shared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Monday. He went on to add, “Not even a response. Not an excuse, not ‘I’m busy tonight, I’m playing football.'” Nada. ““I just thought I’d shoot the ball and send him a text. I never thought I’d be talking about it on live television, but here we are,” he quipped.
Haaland explains why he ignored Holland’s message
After his interview went viral, Haaland spoke about the incident on the Norwegian version of The Assembly. The striker admitted he had no idea who sent him the message. He said: “To be honest, it was a bit embarrassing. We were in Monaco for a Formula One race and then I got a message. I don’t watch movies much so I didn’t know who the people were.”The footballer explained that he chose not to reply because he didn’t know the Netherlands. “Someone asked if we could go out to eat, but I’d never met him, so I didn’t bother to answer. I didn’t want to answer to someone I didn’t know.”
