Chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Tamim Iqbal remains hopeful that India will travel to Bangladesh for the white-ball series scheduled for September 2026. The six-match series, comprising three ODIs and three T20Is, is still uncertain due to several factors. However, Tamim said that discussions are ongoing with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and the Bangladesh board is making efforts to ensure that the series is done.“Unfortunately, I don’t have any news regarding the India series. I am in discussions with the BCCI and there is an exchange of emails happening between the BCB members, and we are trying from all quarters,” Tamim was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. “The Bangladesh series against India, the excitement is at a different level, I’m sure about the journalists, the fans, the cricketers, everyone,” he said.India last visited Bangladesh in 2022 for a two-match Test series, where they registered a clean sweep 2-0.The BCB president admitted that while he is working to bring India to Bangladesh, there are certain things that are beyond his control.“Bangladesh is an extremely safe country, and I really hope that they will come. Whatever steps need to be taken from our side, we will try,” he added.“I am the president of the BCB, and there is also a line that should never be crossed. So from my position, everything possible to do in my responsibility, I talk to people, I try to tell them what advantages there are with the India series and all that,” said Tamim.“There are certain things that are out of my control. The discussions I have had so far have been very positive discussions. They still have to make a decision. Very soon, maybe, we will know if it is the series or not. So we will know very soon,” he added.The proposed series comes at a time when cricket ties between India and Bangladesh have faced challenges.India had decided not to travel to Bangladesh for the T20 World Cup due to security concerns during the previous government led by Muhammad Yunus. The decision had created uncertainty over future bilateral cricket engagements between the two nations.However, recent geopolitical developments have renewed hopes that India’s tour of Bangladesh could go ahead as planned.
