The actress, who plays Paramjit Kaur Khalra in the film, recalled her dedication to the project over the years. She also expressed mixed emotions about finally seeing the film reach audiences, even if its run was short-lived.Posting on Instagram, Geetika narrated the story of the team’s long wait to bring the film to the audience. She admitted that while the film is finally being seen by some audiences, its journey still feels incomplete because it’s no longer available in some places.She wrote: “For four years, we kept this film in our hearts, hoping that one day we could finally share it with everyone. Today, this hope is both realized and unfulfilled, as Satluj has made his voice heard in some places and remained silent in others (sic). “
Actress talks about playing Bibi Paramjit
Geetika also opens up about essaying the role of Bibi Paramjit, the wife of Jaswant Singh Khalra Diljit Dosanjh. She described the opportunity as a meaningful experience and expressed gratitude for being a part of the film.In her post, she praised the family whose story and their journey inspired the project. She wrote: “I am honored to step into Bibi Paramjit’s world and stand next to @diljitdosanjh telling the story of Jaswant Singh Khalra ji and this family whose love has endured more than words can fully describe.”The actress concluded by giving her approval to director Honey Trehan and his vision for the film.She added, “Admired @honeytrehan’s decision. There’s still a long way to go before the movie is released
Directed by Honey Trehan, Satluj draws inspiration from the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. The film revolves around allegations of thousands of unidentified corpses going missing and illegally cremated during the militancy period in Punjab in the 1980s and 1990s.The project hit some roadblocks before launch. There are reports that during the certification process, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) recommended several changes. It also reportedly asked the producers to change the film’s original title. The matter later reached the Bombay High Court and the certification process continues.After years of uncertainty, Satluj premiered on ZEE5 on July 3. There was very little publicity for the film’s release. However, it only remained for a short period of time before disappearing from the platform.The streaming service later said the film would continue to be available in India until further notice. It also said it was continuing to pursue the film’s restoration through appropriate legal proceedings.According to reports, the deletion was carried out in accordance with the instructions issued for security reasons under the Information Technology Rules. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has also reportedly formed a high-level committee to review the film’s content. The decision prompted reactions from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee as well as several Punjab political parties.
Diljit Dosanjh hinted that the film would be removed
Before the video was taken down, Diljit Dosanjh discussed the issue on Instagram Live. He revealed that he already knew the movie wouldn’t be around for long.
