The film had high ratings in its first three days of release, but saw a significant drop in ratings on Monday of its first week.According to Sacnilk, “Gatta Kusthi 2” earned a net revenue of Rs 210 crore in India on its fourth day. The latest figure was down 66.1% from Rs 620 crore on the third day.
Indian and overseas collections continue to grow
“Gatta Kusthi 2” has earned a net revenue of Rs 159.5 crore in India. Currently, its total collection in India stands at Rs 183.4 crore.The film collected Rs 70 lakh on its fourth day overseas, taking its total international box office to Rs 400 crore. The film has collected Rs 22.34 million at the global box office so far.
Increased occupancy during evening and night shows
“Gatta Kusthi 2” screened 2,094 times on its fourth day. The overall occupancy rate for the Tamil version was 19.21%.The film’s attendance rate during the morning screening reached 14.85%. The attendance rate increased to 17.92% in the afternoon and further climbed to 19.46% in the evening. The highest attendance rate of the day was the night performance, reaching 23.46%.The sequel shifts the focus to the emotional journey of a husband and wife separated by unexpected circumstances. The lead roles are played by Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi.ETimes noted that the film started with an interesting premise but felt it underexploited the idea. The review reads: “While the premise certainly had potential, the film we got rarely lived up to its claims. A ‘this should be enough’ attitude seemed to permeate every aspect, from the writing (convenient and predictable) to the staging (similar to a large-scale sitcom), the acting (broad strokes) and the music (generic, save for one hummable number). The cast is filled with actors who have entertained us in the past, and they manage to sell the film, although Aishwarya Lekshmi doesn’t feel comfortable here despite the appeal of the previous film, perhaps because of her dubbing.
