The ICC reprimands the Indian cricketer for throwing the ball in

Indian fast bowler Gurnoor Brar has been officially warned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first ODI against England on Tuesday. The incident happened in England’s eighth innings when Brar picked up the ball after his delivery and threw it towards England batsman Ben Duckett. Party officials ruled the launch was “inappropriate and dangerous”. Along with the warning, Brar received a demerit point on his disciplinary record. The charge was brought by the field umpires, together with the third and fourth umpires, under Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct. The rule concerns “throwing a ball at or near a player in an inappropriate and or dangerous manner during an international match”. A Level 1 offense can result in an official reprimand, a fine of up to 50 percent of the player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points. If a player collects four or more demerit points in 24 months, those are converted into suspension points, which can lead to a ban. Two suspension points equals a suspension for one Test or two ODIs or T20Is, whichever format comes first. Demerit points are removed from a player’s record after 24 months.Despite the disciplinary action, Brar impressed with the ball, taking two wickets as India secured a six-wicket win over England to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. The teams are set to meet again in the second ODI in Cardiff on Thursday.“Brar admitted the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, and therefore, there was no need for a formal hearing,” the ICC said on Thursday.
