Nasiruddin Shah Questioning why Bollywood actors are silent on the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party protests in New Delhi. In a recent interview, the veteran actor sharply criticized them, comparing their silence to a dog with a bone in its mouth.
Nasiruddin Shah’s ‘Bone Dog’ Remarks
The Indian Express quoted Nasiruddin as saying: “When their conscience tells them, they do it. There is a saying: A dog with a bone in its mouth will not bark. Once the bone falls out of the mouth, or the bone breaks their teeth, they will bark.”When asked further if he thought people took advantage of the silence of others to choose to suppress their own consciences, Shah responded: “Absolutely, yes.” He then added, “But how long can they continue to do this? Only time will tell.”

Recently, Shah released a video statement on social media to express his support for the protesters. “I want to say two things to you all. The first thing is that if an uneducated person leads this country, then in his heart he will want the entire country to become as ignorant, incomprehensible and heartless as him. After completing two outstanding acting courses from the National School of Drama (NSD) and Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), I learned the most about the craft from those children whom I tried to teach,” he said.“I sympathize with them. I am emotional and at the same time, my blood boils seeing how young people are tortured by those thugs and it reminds me of America’s masked agents. Think of your own children too. One day, you too will have to face the consequences of your actions,” the actor added.Shah went on to urge students not to lose hope, saying: “A lot of people are supporting you. Keep fighting. I have always had great expectations for the youth of this country and my faith in them will only get stronger now. I also want to tell the government, sab yaad rkha jayega (everything will be remembered).”
Other Bollywood actors who have spoken out
While some leading Bollywood actors have chosen not to comment on the ongoing CJP protests, several others include Shabana Azmi and Ritesh Deshmukh also came out in support.
