The student claimed that the results displayed on the official results portal changed three times in less than 24 hours after the results were announced.The petition, filed through advocate Vineet Jindal, seeks a direction to preserve and produce students’ original physical Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) answer sheets and other examination records so that they can be independently verified. The matter is likely to come before the High Court on Friday.The petition does not seek to reassess the answer. Instead, it questioned whether the records relied upon by the NTA were consistent with the answer sheets filled in by the candidates during the examination.
Candidate claims scores changed three times
The petition stated that the student appeared for NEET UG 2026 on June 21. After comparing his answers to the provisional and final answers, he estimated that he would score around 620 points.However, when the NTA announced the results on July 16, the portal allegedly first displayed the score as 650 points.The petition states that after the test taker logged out and logged back in, the score changed to 500 points. When he checked the portal the next day, it allegedly showed a score of 135 points.According to the complaint, the NTA did not provide any explanation for these consecutive changes in the displayed scores.
Student Dispute OMR Form Displayed by NTA
After noticing the discrepancies, the student sent multiple emails to the NTA stating, the petition states. He also filed an application under the Right to Information Act seeking details related to his assessment and a copy of his original OMR answer sheet.After not getting a satisfactory reply, the student visited the NTA’s office in New Delhi on July 20.The officials showed him an OMR form on a computer screen and confirmed that it was his answer sheet, the petition said. However, the student questioned its authenticity, insisting that it was not the OMR form he had filled during the examination.The plea also claimed that despite his objections, officials told him that this was the only OMR form available in the agency’s records and the same would also be submitted to the court. The same OMR form was later emailed to him but he continued to dispute it.
Plea points to discrepancies so far
The petition also cited another inconsistency in the records provided by the NTA.According to the complaint, the calculation sheet shared by the agency mentioned the exam date as July 21, 2026, instead of June 21, 2026, when NEET UG 2026 was actually conducted.The petition argued that this discrepancy raises questions about the authenticity and reliability of the records maintained by the agency.
What does the petition seek?
The student has clarified that he is not asking for his answers to be re-evaluated.Instead, the petition requires the NTA to produce the original OMR paper answer sheet to the court and retain all relevant electronic records, including server logs, scan logs, audit trails and metadata.It also sought to allow students to participate in the ongoing NEET UG 2026 counseling process during the review of the dispute.The complaint also asks the court to appoint an independent expert, forensic laboratory or court commissioner to examine the original OMR answer sheet and related electronic records and submit a report.The Delhi High Court is expected to hear the case on Friday. The petition said the case was limited to verifying test records and did not seek to re-evaluate test takers’ answers.
