Those performance-based payments account for $703 million of the FIFA tournament’s total $871 million in prize money.The remaining $168 million is distributed among the participating national associations, regardless of where they finish, ensuring that each nation receives additional financial support to participate in the biggest football tournament.For Spain, however, the victory brought much more than the World Cup trophy.
