Volkswagen India has confirmed that it will expand the Tayron lineup with a new, smaller model, which is slated to be launched tomorrow i.e. July 10, 2026. Sitting below the existing Tayron R-Line, the upcoming model is expected to offer a bigger entry point in the three-row SUV segment. Although Volkswagen has not announced the official name of the model, the teaser video has revealed details of the design and equipment. The Tyron R-Line is currently priced at Rs 46.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The upcoming model can be priced somewhere around 42-43 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the Tyron will continue to compete with SUVs such as the Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian.
In terms of design, the new Tyron retains the familiar LED lighting signature seen on the R-Line. It gets LED projector headlamps attached to the bar, along with an illuminated Volkswagen logo in the center. Although the front end and grille have not been revealed, it is expected to look more stylish than the R-Line. Another notable change is the introduction of a new five-spoke alloy wheel design, which should be smaller compared to the 19-inch wheels offered on larger models. The teaser also showcases gloss-black wheel arch cladding, roof rails, integrated LED headlights with illuminated Volkswagen badge, and a redesigned rear bumper. Moving inside, the interior looks similar to the R-Line but with a few minor changes. The teaser reveals two-tone seats, instead of the black interior of the premium model. The SUV continues to feature a free infotainment system, a full digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, wireless phone calling, metal pedals, a panoramic sunroof and three rows of seats. However, Volkswagen is expected to drop some of the premium features found on the R-Line to help differentiate the two models.Basically, no change is expected. The new Tyron model is expected to use the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which produces 204hp (around 201bhp) and 320Nm of torque. The engine will continue to be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with power sent to all four wheels via Volkswagen’s AWD system.
