Contrary to popular belief, Prateik revealed that his substance abuse started long before he entered the film industry or became famous. The actor, known for his performances in films such as “Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na” and “Dhobi Ghat”, said his struggles began in childhood and were rooted in personal trauma rather than the pressure of stardom.Responding to the rumours, Prateik explained that his drug addiction has nothing to do with success in Bollywood. Instead, he points to his upbringing as the reason for his early exposure to drugs.In an old interview on the Bollywood bubble, the actor revealed, “I’m just saying, people think, ‘Oh, he got into movies, got fame and money, and then started doing drugs.'” No, that’s not true. I started doing drugs when I was thirteen, even before I was twelve. Yes, I’m scared. So, it’s not because of the film industry. Unfortunately, I had a different upbringing and a somewhat complicated family situation. That’s why I started doing drugs. It wasn’t the fame and money in movies that made me do it. Platek also spoke about the emotional trauma that continues to affect him even after overcoming his addiction. According to him, unresolved trauma can affect many aspects of life, including relationships. “You understand, drugs are associated with trauma. As long as the trauma is not released, it will continue to affect relationships and other areas of life. But there comes a time when you have to try to make things better, and I’ve been doing that for years.His remarks emphasized the importance of addressing emotional trauma rather than focusing solely on addiction itself.The actor also praised his then-fiancee actress Priya Banerjee for always standing by his side and supporting him to become a better person.“My fiancée has helped me improve in so many ways. We help each other grow even though she doesn’t need any progress. She’s perfect! You know, that’s life; you have to keep moving forward.” He said their relationship has been a source of encouragement as the two continue to support each other’s personal growth.
