Stand-up comedian and actor Anubhav Singh Bassi recently took to social media to share his thoughts on the nationwide protests surrounding the NEET controversy in a heartfelt message. In it, he praised Gen Z for their sharp intelligence and creative ways of protesting, while also expressing support for the issues they raised.

Bassey posted on his Instagram Stories a photo from Monday’s Chalo Sansad march in Delhi, during which police filed lahi charges against some student protesters. The photo captured a police officer waving his batten while a female protester held her ground, shielding other demonstrators from blows.In the caption, he wrote, “Ye hamari waali Generation nahi hai jo bachpan ki Trajujaani pe daale aur jamani ka budhape pe, easy to manipulate nahi hote hein ye. ‘They have the right’ sun ke hi bade hein aur Sharp toh ye behadd hain. ABCD se pehle ADHD pata chala he inhe, ye maante nahi he aasani se (it’s not ours) they transfer their childhood trauma to younger years and then later in life they are less easily manipulated and grow up knowing their rights, they know what ADHD is before they have ABCD.”
He added, “Aur Creative ye itne hain ki 2 ghante mein rap bhi likh dete hein aur 10 minutes mein meme tayyar hota hain inka. Humein inhe empathy aur sympathy se aage leke chalna chahiye, apathy se chid hein inhe. Hope their concerns are addressed (They were also very creative and wrote a rap in two hours and finished it in 2 Memes created within hours ) minutes. We must put them in front of them with empathy and compassion rather than treating them with indifference).“
Officials and protesters have conflicting accounts
Protesters from the Cockroach Jantar Party (CJP) became unruly and aggressive during demonstrations in New Delhi on Monday, officials said. They claim that despite repeated police warnings and lawful instructions to disperse, protesters ignored these instructions and deliberately breached existing injunctions. Protesters, on the other hand, alleged that Delhi Police treated them indiscriminately, resulting in many injuries. Social media videos showed police using lassi charges and tear gas on students, with protesters further claiming that unidentified people in plainclothes without police identification also attacked them.
Protests at Jantar Mantar for nearly a month
Student-led protests organized by the Cockroach Jantar Party (CJP) have been going on at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar for nearly a month, with activist Sonam Wangchuk and other students later joining in on a hunger strike. Their core demand is the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged NEET question paper leaks and other exam-related irregularities, along with broader calls to reform the education system.
