Alia took to her Instagram Stories to share a heartfelt message about the extent of the crisis and asked her fans and fellow Indians to contribute to the relief efforts.

Alia’s statement read: “Currently, floods are affecting many parts of our country, with Assam being one of the worst-affected regions facing extremely difficult times. More than 60 people have lost their lives. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced. Entire families have lost their homes, land, livestock and, for some, even their loved ones.She went on to add: “This happens every year but still catches us off guard. Assam needs immediate relief now and support on the long road to recovery. If you’ve been wondering how you can help. I’ll be sharing some of the ways we can support relief efforts through organizations working on the ground over the next few days.”
Salman Khan supports efforts to help flood victims
Her appeal comes as the flood situation in Assam continues to affect hundreds of thousands across the state. Bollywood star Salman Khan, with the help of his charity, has also launched a relief drive in collaboration with Assam Fan Club (SKFC). The first phase focused on the distribution of ready-to-eat food packs to families in Sivasagar, with the supplies being brought in from Guwahati.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), floods continue to affect 3,32,639 people in 622 villages under 21 income circles in seven districts – Sivasagar, Chaladeo, Golaghat, Jorhat, Nagaon, Sonitpur and Kamrup (metro). The flooding also severely affected agriculture, with several hectares of farmland still under water.
