In an interview with Hauterrfly, Sameera revealed, “In my first film ‘Maine Dil Tujhko Diya’, my skin tone was two to three shades lighter. I looked almost gray! I used to use full-body makeup to match the color of my face and body,” admitted Reddy. “Do you know how many women have this disease in their own families? Her own parents and in-laws will say, ‘You’re dark and fat.'” “Hell! Who gave you the definition of beauty?”

Sameera Reddy also said that in her early days in the industry, even female assistant directors would body-shamed her. “Even the costume designer told me from the beginning that I had to do something about this.
