Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay is all set for the final phase of his film journey and hence, Jana Nayagan has been one of the most awaited Tamil films of the year. The film is directed by H. Vinoth, who has not been able to deliver a satisfactory film since the release of Karthi’s “Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru”. H. Vinoth is expected to make a comeback with ‘Jana Nayagan’. Below is a detailed look at the main cast and the roles they play.
Starring Vijay, Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deal
Vijay plays Talapathy Vetri Kondan (Vetri), IPS, an upright police officer whose journey forms the emotional and dynamic core of the story. The character is expected to have some similarities with Balayya’s character in “Bhagavanth Kesari”. Pooja Hegde plays the role of Kayal, reuniting with Vijay after “Beast”. Bollywood actor Bobby Deal plays the main villain of the film. The names of his characters include John Himmler, Amrish Pujari and Phoenix. Bobby’s previous Tamil outing was “Kanguva”.
Mamitha Baiju and Gautham Vasudev Menon play key roles
One of the most talked about additional cast members in the film is Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju, who plays Vijayalakshmi “Viji” Srikanth. “I had always wanted to be in Vijay’s film, but that’s definitely not going to happen now. When I was offered a role in the superstar’s film, the first thought that came to my mind was, ‘Oh, now I can’t act in Vijay’s film.'”Director-actor Gautham Vasudev Menon plays Srikanth, Vij’s father and a jailer. Apart from the lead cast, “Jana Nayagan” also has an experienced supporting cast including Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Narain, Nassar, Revathi, Sunil, Reba Monica John and Nizhalgal Ravi. Reports also suggest that composer Anirudh Ravichander and filmmakers Atlee, Lokesh Kanagaraj and Nelson might make a special appearance in the film. However, these cameo appearances have not yet been officially confirmed by the makers.
