Kia Syros EV explained: Top 5 things you should know

Kia India recently launched the Syros EV. The company has also opened bookings for the electric SUV at Rs 25,000 through its official dealer website. The Syros EV is offered with two battery packs and a range of up to 526 km, coming as the latest entry in a growing segment. Here’s a look at the top five features of the new electric SUV.

Kia Syros EV: Up to 526 Km

The Syros EV is available with two battery options. The larger 51.4 kWh battery has an ARAI-certified range of 526 km, while the smaller 42 kWh battery is said to offer 443 km on a full charge. Both models are powered by a front-mounted electric motor that produces 171 PS. Kia says the big battery variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds.

Fast forward and battery technology

The electric SUV supports a speed of 100 kW DC, allowing the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 39 minutes. It also comes with a 10.8 kW onboard AC charger, battery management technology and regenerative braking with i-Pedal mode for single pedal operation.

Features of a real EV

While the Syros EV retains all of the features of its ICE sibling, it gets a number of different electric powertrain styles. These include Kia’s Digital Tiger Face, Ice Cube MFR LED headlights, Star Map LED lighting, door handles and 17-inch dual-tone aeroy alloy wheels. Depending on the variant, buyers can also opt for 16-inch wheels.

A cabin full of character

Inside, the Syros EV has a 30-inch Trinity Panoramic Display Panel that combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 5-inch climate display. Other highlights include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Kia Connect 2.0 with more than 95 connected items, Air-Air updates, Harman Kardon 8-speaker audio system, air conditioning front and rear seats, panoramic sunroof, 4-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, rotating lighting, intelligent trunkcamliter 6 front trunkcamliter.

Security and ownership benefits

The Syros EV comes with a Level 2 ADAS suite with 16 autonomous driving systems, including Front Collision Avoidance Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Following Assist. It also gets six airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Hill-start Assist, all-wheel brakes, electronic parking brake with Auto Hold, 360-degree camera and Blind View Monitor as part of its 25 safety features.To make EV ownership easier, Kia is also offering a Lifetime High Voltage Battery warranty, an Assured Buyback program and its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) financing solution.The Kia Syros EV will be offered in seven models for two battery types. Buyers will be able to choose from nine exterior colors and several interior themes. The company has not yet announced the prices of the electric SUV.
