The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the National Eligibility and Undergraduate Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2026 results, ending the wait for nearly 20 lakh medical aspirants across the country. Candidates who appeared for the entrance exam can now download their scorecard from the official website neet.nta.nic.in.According to NTA data, more than 11.21 lakh candidates are eligible for admission to undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH and allied health science courses. The exam was conducted on June 21 in 13 languages at 5,440 exam centers across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad.The agency said the results were released as scheduled to ensure the medical consultation process began immediately. The Medical Consultative Committee (MCC) will provide consultation for 15% of the seats under the all-India quota, while state authorities will monitor admissions under the state quota.

Punjab’s Aryan Gupta scored 715 out of 720 points to share the top spot in the country with Haryana’s Panshul Bansal.Speaking to PTI after the results were announced, Aryan said the achievement was a dream come true after months of tireless preparation.“I got AIR 1. I scored 715 out of 720. Both my father and mother are doctors. I worked very hard. I couldn’t sleep but now it feels surreal and looks like a dream. Everyone is happy,” he told PTI.Aryan revealed that his preparation required extraordinary discipline. In the final stage of his studies, he spent 16 to 17 hours a day preparing for the country’s most difficult undergraduate medical entrance exam.
Childhood promise inspired his career choice
Beyond academic achievement, Aryan’s ambitions to pursue medicine were also deeply personal. He said he wanted to become an oncologist, a decision that was shaped by a tragedy he experienced as a child.“My grandmother died of cancer. I was in third standard then and I had made a commitment,” he said in an interaction with PTI, adding that “there is a lot more to do in life”.
Message for future NEET aspirants
Aryan also conveyed a message to students preparing for future editions of NEET as well as students who failed to qualify this year.He urged aspirants not to lose hope and remain committed to their goals, saying persistent efforts will eventually pay off. He believes that success does not come overnight, but sincere efforts will never go unnoticed. He encouraged his classmates to continue their dedication and expressed his belief that if one perseveres, the universe will eventually recognize honest efforts and reward perseverance.His advice comes as thousands of candidates start preparing for the next NEET cycle and others hope to learn from this year’s experience.

This year’s results reflect the highly competitive nature of the exam.
- 19 candidates scored more than 700 points.
- 138 candidates obtained scores of 690 or above.
- 1,492 candidates scored 650 points and above.
- 10,160 candidates scored 600 points and above.
- 90,780 candidates crossed the 500-mark threshold.
NTA also noted that more than 93% of the top 138 candidates were taking the exam for the first time and nearly 99% belonged to the 17-19 age group. More than 58% of qualified candidates are women.
The consultation process is about to begin
As the results come in, the admission process will move into the counseling phase. The MCC will conduct counseling for all-India quota seats, while individual states will release their own counseling schedule for state quota admissions.The NTA advises candidates to rely only on official websites for counseling-related information and warns them against receiving fraudulent calls, text messages or websites promising admissions, seats or improved scores in exchange for money.
