“Batwala 1947” is based on a Mohajir family who traveled to Lahore after the partition of India and Pakistan and occupied an abandoned Hindu house. The story, adapted from the play “Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai” by renowned playwright Asghar Wajahat, tells the story of an elderly Hindu woman who refuses to leave her home and the tension that arises between her and the Mohajir family. The film celebrates the bond between two families while exploring hope during one of the darkest chapters in human history.The project marks the first collaboration between Sunny Deol, director Rajkumar Santoshi and producer Aamir Khan. “This is one of Dharamji’s favorite scripts and I am happy that he will see the film,” Aamir said in a statement.
