Samay Raina: ‘Not better than Rs 370 biryani’: Netizens slam Samay Raina’s ‘kandha dega tabhi woh…’ review: ‘Vasoolunga toh sahi’ | Hindi Film News
Comedian Samay Raina returns with Season 2 of Insidious India, with the first episode by Alia Bhatt and Sharvari as celebrity guests. While the show’s return has generated excitement, an old clip from one of its 2024 episodes has resurfaced online, sparking new criticism. The viral video has reignited conversations about misogyny, consent and the normalization of humor, especially in the wake of the Rs 370 biryani controversy that dominated social media earlier this month. In the resurfaced clip, a woman who was attending the show with her boyfriend suddenly stood up and left midway through. Samai asked curiously what happened. The man replied that she had to rush home because her father had a minor heart condition. Sammei was surprised by her boyfriend’s calm reaction and asked him why he didn’t accompany her to check on the situation. He then joked, “Abhi jaake rota na jaake, bhai kandha dega tabhi woh head degi (Go cry for her. Give her your shoulders and she’ll give you your head)” to laughter from the audience. The video has now gone viral, with some social media users criticizing the remarks. One X user wrote: “Kandha dega tabhi toh head degi” – Samay Raina said to someone in the audience as his girlfriend left in tears after her father had a minor heart attack. No better than “370 rupai diye hain biryani ke liye vasoolunga toh sahi” Yes, comedy is not the biggest problem in our country, but this casual f*ck boy, locker room language has become mainstream and also fuels crime and violence against women. Men can get away with this kind of language/criminal behavior because other men join in and applaud when women are talked about like this. So don’t @ me with your gyaan. “Another user commented: “Rights are not measured by what you give…no matter what It’s not a dinner bill or a shoulder to cry on that will win you someone else’s body. Nowadays people treat comedy like a laundromat for bad ideas…ugh. “A third wrote: “Three Beauties are misogynists, they are misogynists whether they are male or female and I hope they face up to the misogyny they are mocking, I don’t feel sorry for you.”Another post read: “I felt pathetic defending this man when this whole drama happened. He simply doesn’t deserve a platform, let alone one where you have to pay to watch this crap. It could have been easy to call out his behavior, but instead he turned it into a joke and chuckled a bit. “For those who are unaware, the Rs 370 biryani controversy erupted after a video of comedian Pranit More’s show went viral. On the show, 23-year-old Himanshu Jangra claimed that because he spent Rs 370 on chicken biryani during a date, he should get a “return” on that investment. The comments were met with widespread backlash, and Himanshu later apologized and closed his social media accounts.Pranit More also issued a public apology, clarifying that the audience’s comments did not represent his personal views. He said, “The audience’s comments do not represent my views.”
