Deschamps resigned after leading France to another deep World Cup run, with Les Bleus bowing out in the semi-finals before finishing fourth in the tournament. During his time in charge, Deschamps restored France’s status among the elite of international football. His managerial career at the Spanish giants has been one of the most successful in modern football, highlighted by three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles between 2016 and 2018. In addition to European success, Zidane has also won two La Liga titles, two UEFA Super Cups, two UEFA World Cups, twice in the UEFA World Cup, and two spells in Santiago Berbéna.The France job has long been seen as the next logical step in Zidane’s coaching career, with speculation surrounding his appointment continuing for several years.Before establishing himself as an elite manager, Zidane had an iconic playing career with the French national team. He inspired France to their first FIFA World Cup triumph in 1998, scoring twice in the final against Brazil, before playing a crucial role in the country’s success at UEFA Euro 2000. His performances earned him the 1998 Ballon d’Or, recognizing him as the best footballer in the world.Zidane represented France in 108 international matches, scoring 31 goals.
