At a recent fan interaction held at Cineulagam, Balaji detailed how the idea for ‘Karuppu’ first started. He said the first version of the script was narrated to Vijay, which indirectly helped open up more career opportunities.He sheds light on the sequence of events behind the project’s evolution.“I initially narrated the film to Vijay sir and told him that the whole journey started with him.”He adds that this early narration wasn’t part of the final collaboration, but still played an important role in shaping his next move as a filmmaker.

RJ Balaji further explained that the connection established through Vijay hearing the script for the first time helped him get into the new world of production. He said it was a turning point that finally led him to tell the story to Surya’s team.“I was able to contact Mr. Surya mainly because Mr. Vijay had heard the story.”He added that producers who contacted him later were already aware of the previous narrative, which boosted interest in the project. This, he believes, creates a natural progression from one stage of development to another.
