The much-anticipated Mirzapur: The Movie will bring the much-loved crime saga from OTT to the big screen this September. The recently released trailer has already created a buzz, with fans celebrating the return of fan-favorite characters like Munna Bhaiya (diviendu) and compounder (Abhishek Banerjee). But fans unanimously agreed that the absence Vikrant Messi in movies. While Bablu Pandit will be returning to the film, the character will now be played by Jitendra Kumar Instead of Vikrant.The reason behind Vikrant’s departure from one of the most memorable characters on the show is yet to be revealed. However, during the trailer launch of Mirzapur, Vikrant recently recalled fond memories of the series. The actor looked back fondly on his time on the show and admitted that he still hopes Bablu’s story can continue. “I wish they had not killed me,” Vikrant said with a smile while talking to FLO Bengaluru officials. He further stated that when he first joined, he never imagined that his character or the show would become a cultural phenomenon.“When Mirzapur came to me, it was really just a bunch of passionate people coming together. There were a lot of amazing women involved in it, too, but primarily, the show was probably 85 percent male, both in front of and behind the camera. It was just a group of people coming together and saying, ‘Let’s make this show.'” Speaking about Excel Entertainment’s confidence in the project, Vikrant praised the production house for backing a story rooted in the heart of India at a time when such narratives were not common in mainstream entertainment. “So it’s just a bunch of people coming together, going out, and indulging our testosterone, our male egos, or the patriarchy, if you can call it that.”He also recalled the overwhelming response the show received immediately after its release and how Bablu Pandit became a household name almost overnight. “I distinctly remember I was in Lucknow on the day the show was released. I was shooting for a film called Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi. I had a 7 am to 7 pm shift. I entered the set around 6 or 6.30 am. It was not fully light yet. But when the shoot was about to end, I heard some chaos on the location. The director and assistants found sound control a bit difficult because we were shooting with synchronized sound. Then we realized that there were at least 200-300 people outside the shooting location as the news had spread that Bablu Bhaiya was shooting there. “Recalling the unforgettable moment, Vikrant said he was shocked by how much the audience loved him, especially since it happened within a day of the show’s premiere. “It all happened within 24 hours. The show started at 12 midnight and it was the second night, so probably 17-18 hours later. I had people following my car on bicycles. They wanted to take pictures with me, wanted selfies and autographs. That’s when we realized we had actually done something good, something that people really enjoyed watching.“
