‘Batman Part II’: Robert Pattinson wants Robin to star in ‘Batman Part II’, but on one clear condition: ‘He must be 13 years old or older’ | English Movie News
robert pattinson He has previously expressed his willingness to play Batman in the upcoming sequel, while introducing one of DC Comics’ most iconic characters. As production continues on The Batman Part II, set to be released in October 2027, the actor’s earlier comments about the possibility of Robin appearing in the film have resurfaced amid fan speculation about the direction of the series.According to Men’s Journal, Robin’s addition will mark a major moment for the character in the live-action film. It’s been 30 years since “Wonder Boys” last appeared on the big screen. Chris O’Donnell was the last actor to play a supporting role in a modern film, having played the character in 1995’s Batman Forever and 1997’s Batman & Robin. Since then, Robin has been largely absent from theatrical releases, appearing mainly in television productions and animated projects.
Robert Pattinson introduces the idea of Robin
During a 2023 Q&A, Pattinson spoke with characteristic humor and genuine enthusiasm about the prospect of adding Robin to his Batman universe. While discussing the potential addition of the character, Pattinson made a tongue-in-cheek comment about the requirements for such an addition.“He has to be 13. That’s the only way I can accept it,” Pattinson said with obvious joking. However, his comments then turned more serious, suggesting he was genuinely interested in the possibility. “Well, I love Death in the Family and stuff like that, but I think it would be cool. People are scared of it, too, but it’s kind of exciting. I think it’s going to be a really fun addition.”Pattinson’s reference to “death in the family” points to an important storyline in DC Comics history. The four-issue 1988 comic series by writer Jim Starlin and artist Jim Aparo famously depicted the death of one of Robin’s characters, Jason Todd. The story became particularly iconic because of the way the character’s fate was decided: readers were given a phone number to call and vote on whether the young sidekick should survive his encounter with the Joker. Readers chose the tragic outcome by a narrow margin of just 72 votes.
Other Robin projects under development
While there’s still speculation about whether Robin will appear in Batman Part II, the character has been confirmed to appear in other upcoming superhero movies. Director James Gunn announced in 2023 that an upcoming Batman movie titled Batman: The Brave and the Bold would feature Damian Wayne. The film will be part of the wider cinematic universe Gunn is building, specifically in the first chapter titled “Gods and Monsters.” However, an official release date for the project has not yet been announced.Whether or not the character appears in Pattinson’s Batman movie, Robin’s return to the big screen seems inevitable, as multiple filmmakers and studios continue to develop projects centered on the Wonder Boy and his relationship with the Dark Knight.Robert Pattinson’s “Batman II” is scheduled to be released in theaters on October 1, 2027.
