SS Rajamouli has given an exciting production update on his much-anticipated action-adventure Varanasi starring Priyanka Chopra and Mahesh Babu lead. The film’s producers have confirmed that the film has crossed a major milestone, with its elaborate IMAX action sequences now successfully completed. Anticipation for the ambitious project, expected to hit theaters worldwide on April 7, 2027, continues to grow.Speaking to Variety India about the progress of the film, Rajamouli assured fans that production remains on schedule and is now in its final stages.

The ace director revealed that the biggest and most technically demanding part of the film has already been handled by the team. Having completed the big action episodes, the focus has now shifted to shooting scenes that connect the narrative.“We have completed the main part of the shoot, all the important big action sequences are done.” He further shared, “We are now working on the smaller, interconnected scenes, so hopefully by September, maybe by October, we should be able to wrap up the shoot.”Rajamouli said only the dramatic parts of Varanasi’s schedule need to be shot before principal photography wraps up.Rajamouli emphasized that the film is progressing exactly as per schedule, dispelling any concerns about delays. His latest update suggests that the team is on track to wrap up filming on schedule and then move into post-production.The director’s statement also reassures fans eagerly awaiting the ambitious project, which remains locked in a theatrical release date of April 7, 2027.
