The engagement lasted only a few months

However, the engagement only lasted a few months before being called off in January 2003.Over the years, multiple media reports have speculated on the reasons behind the breakup. One widely reported theory suggests that Karisma’s mother Babita allegedly wanted a prenuptial agreement and financial security for her daughter, reportedly out of concerns about the Bachchan family’s business situation at the time. However, neither the Bachchans nor the Kapoors have officially confirmed the claims or revealed the exact reason for the breakup. Both eventually moved on with their lives. Abhishek Bachchan married Aishwarya Rai on April 20, 2007, and welcomed their daughter Aaradhya. Karisma Kapoor married industrialist Sunjay Kapur in September 2003. They had two children – Samaira and Kiaan – but their marriage ended in divorce in 2016. Karisma Kapoor has previously described that period of her life as deeply traumatic.
