Karan shared a series of pictures from the sets of “Batwala 1947” and narrated how the journey began long before he became an actor. Being on my dad’s set and telling him about my dream of acting with him was one of them. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, Batwara 1947 stars a star-studded cast including Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preity G Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh. The project marks the much-awaited reunion of Santoshi and Sunny Deol after nearly three decades of successful collaboration.The film is produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions. Its music is composed by AR Rahman and the lyrics are written by Javed Akhtar. The script is inspired by Asghar Wajahat’s critically acclaimed play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai, which has remained popular over the years.Interestingly, the film was initially announced as ‘Lahore 1947’ and later the producers decided to rename it to ‘Batwala 1947’. While it was originally expected to hit theaters in 2025, post-production requirements pushed the release schedule back.The highly anticipated period drama is now set to be released on August 14, 2026, making it one of the biggest hits of the Independence Day weekend.
