Maharashtra TET paper leaked: What happens next? New exam date, new admission ticket and refund rules
The Maharashtra State Council of Examinations (MSCE) has postponed the Maharashtra State Teacher Eligibility Test (MAHA TET) 2026 scheduled to be held on June 28 after Bhiwandi reported a suspected question paper leak. The decision was taken after officials verified that some of the material seized by police matched questions raised in the TET paper. The board, in its official notification, said the exams will be conducted at 1,028 centers across Maharashtra. It added that after irregularities were reported during the NEET 2026 examination, multiple security measures have been taken to ensure fair conduct of the TET. However, based on confidential information received earlier on June 27, Bhiwandi police raided a location and allegedly found some people carrying information related to the question papers. During the verification process, MSCE officials found that some of the recovered issues were consistent with TET’s June 2026 paper. A criminal case has since been registered and the commission said it had deferred its review to ensure full transparency and conduct a detailed investigation.
When will the new one be released? MAHA TET exam date Been announced?
MSCE has not yet announced revised exam dates. The commission said only that the new dates would be announced later on its official website. Candidates are advised to keep checking the portal for updates.
Do candidates need to download a new admission ticket?
The board is yet to clarify whether the admit cards already issued for the June 28 exam are still valid or whether new ones will be issued. Candidates who downloaded their admit cards after being discharged from hospital on June 16 should keep them in a safe place until further instructions are issued by MSCE.
Will the exam pattern change?
No changes in the exam pattern have been announced yet. According to existing notifications, MAHA TET will continue to be conducted in offline mode. Papers 1 and 2 each have 150 multiple-choice questions worth one mark each. Candidates will have 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete each paper and there will be no negative marks.
Will candidates receive a refund?
As of now, MSCE has not announced any refund of exam fees. The official notification only confirmed that the exam had been postponed. It makes no mention of refunds of exam fees or reimbursement of travel or accommodation costs. Candidates should await any further announcements from the Council before making assumptions. MSCE stated that all updates related to revised exam dates and other announcements will be released on the MAHA TET official website. Candidates are advised to rely only on official communications and avoid rumors while the investigation into the suspected document leak continues.
