Nina Dobrev reunites with Paul Wesley; 'Vampire Diaries' star stars in new thriller 'You Deserve to Know'

Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley They may not be returning to Mystic Falls, but they’re officially reuniting years after their hit teen TV series The Vampire Diaries ended.The two former costars, who played on-screen love interests, are now reuniting in the upcoming thriller You Worth Knowing. The film is based on the novel of the same name and stars Dobrev as Gwen and Wesley as Scott. The pair play neighbors who find themselves on opposite sides of a murder investigation, and are drawn into conflict as the mystery unravels.According to Deadline , the film centers on three suburban couples who are not only neighbors but best friends. When one of the husbands is murdered, their seemingly perfect life is upended, and a long-buried secret is revealed that threatens their friendship.Shortly after news of the reunion broke, Paul shared with People: “Nina and I have always wanted to do something together. So, maybe there’s a world where Nina and I could do something together. Daniel Gillis (who plays Elijah Mikaelson) on the show, he and I always talked about doing something.”At the time, teasing about a possible reunion sparked excitement among fans who had long cherished their relationship on and off screen.The reunion marks the pair’s first major project since co-starring on The Vampire Diaries. Dobrev and Wesley played Elena Gilbert and Stefan Salvatore, respectively, during the show’s first six seasons. The two played love roles until Dobrev’s Elena fell in love with Stefan’s brother Damon Salvatore (played by Ian Somerhalder).Wesley remained with the show throughout its eight-season run, while Dobrev returned for the series finale.Nina and Paul are both busy with new projects. Dobrev most recently starred in and produced the short film “General Admission,” which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. She will next star in the action thriller “Get Out” alongside Russell Crowe, Aaron Paul and Theresa Palmer. She will also star in and executive produce “It Happened One Summer,” based on the romance novel of the same name, as well as the erotic thriller “Night Float.”Meanwhile, Wesley recently starred opposite Christina Hendricks in the upcoming third season of Pirates. He also completed work on the fifth and final season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, in which he played the iconic James T. Kirk.
