IIT Kanpur extends cutoff for online MTech, MSc and PG Diploma admissions 2026; check revised timetable

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has extended the application deadline for admission to online postgraduate courses for the September 2026 academic session. Interested candidates can now submit their applications through the official admissions portal.As per the revised schedule, candidates who applied through IIT Kanpur’s online entrance exam can submit their applications before July 1, 2026. Candidates exempted from the entrance examination can submit their applications before July 10, 2026.

IIT Kanpur is offering admissions to the following online postgraduate courses for the September 2026 batch:

  • Master of Technology (MTech)
  • RF Engineering
  • smart grid technology
  • Microelectronics and Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI)
  • sustainable energy technology
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
  • Wireless Networking and Machine Learning (Win-ML)
  • Construction Engineering and Project Management
  • Master of Science (MSc)
  • Economics and Data Analysis
  • Postgraduate Diploma (PG Diploma)
  • network security

These courses are designed for recent graduates and working professionals who wish to enhance their skills or advance their careers in technical and management fields.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates applying for online MTech courses must have a relevant bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks.Admission will be offered through any of the following means:

  • Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur Online Entrance Test, or
  • Valid scores of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Common Admission Test in Design (CEED), Common Admission Test (CAT), Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM), Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).

Candidates with valid scores in these national level examinations are exempted from the IIT Kanpur online entrance test and can apply before July 10, 2026.

Application fee

Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs 5,000 while submitting the application form. Payment must be made online.
