The future of Hera Pheri 3 appears to have hit another roadblock. film producer priyadarshan has confirmed that he is no longer involved in the long-awaited sequel, adding that he is not sure if the film will ever make it to the big screen.Priyadarshan is not directing the third installment of the much-loved comedy series, producer Feroze Nadiadwala said in an interview.Confirming the news to Hindustan Times, Priyadarshan said, “What Feroze said is true. I have nothing to do with Hera Pheri 3 at the moment.”

The filmmakers went a step further and expressed doubts about the fate of the project itself.“As far as I know, Hera Pheri 3 will never be released due to many legal issues and personal conflicts. It doesn’t matter whether I’m involved or not,” he told the publication.His announcement may disappoint fans who have been eagerly awaiting the return of the iconic trio and beloved series.
A movie mired in controversy
Hera Pheri (2000), directed by Priyadarshan, went on to become a cult classic and its sequel, Phir Hera Pheri (2006), directed by Neeraj Vora, was also a commercial success.However, the third installment has been plagued by multiple roadblocks over the years. One of the biggest issues is the legal dispute surrounding the Hera Pheri franchise. Southern production company Seven Arts International claimed ownership of the series and its characters, but Feroze Nadiadwala disputed this.Previously, a spokesperson for the company Akshay KumarThe production house also stated that the rights were acquired from Nadiadwala, provided he owns them.The film is expected to reunite the original cast of Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty and Paresh Rawal— Priyadarshan returns as director. The project also suffered a setback when Paresh Rawal exited the film in May 2025 but eventually returned.Interestingly, Akshay, Sunil and Paresh recently reunited in another film, Welcome to the Jungle, produced by Feroze Nadiadwala.
